Organically grown cotton uses fiber that is grown without the use of synthetic chemicals mostly used to promote growth and deter pests. These chemicals that are known to to be carcinogenic end up not just on the cotton crop but in the soil and infiltrate the water. Organic farms use only natural fertilizers and do not use any synthetic chemicals. Strict guidelines and oversight of the farming operation maintain this. All the yarn spinners we use require the farms to be tested independently by outside third party organizations.
